Sara Nafziger-Shelly, LCSW, BCD, a licensed clinical social worker with 30 years of experience working with individuals, families, children and adolescents; has discovered many effective tools to work with her clientele. As a therapist in public and private settings, Sara combines traditional evidence-based methods: psychodynamic, rational emotive therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) along with non-traditional expressive modalities including sand-tray therapy and art therapy. Although Sara specializes in complex trauma, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, spiritual direction, life transitions and grief; clients appreciate her wide range of therapeutic expertise. Sara’s core approach is using therapy not as a cure, rather using therapy as a guide to assist people through life’s journey. As a co-facilitator, a partner, in her client’s healing; Sara believes that each client has the answer within himself or herself. Additionally, Sara treats the whole person – spirit, mind and body. Sara believes we are whole people, of which, the mind, the body and the spirit are inseparable.
