What are your hours of operation?
Our standard business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Evening sessions are available by appointment only and are managed based on individual therapist availability.
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes, we offer convenient telehealth services for North Carolina residents. This allows you to meet securely with your therapist from the comfort of your home.
How do I get started with counseling?
Getting started is simple and straightforward. It begins with a brief, confidential phone call to our office at (828) 327-6633. During this call, which typically takes about ten minutes, we’ll gather some basic personal information, brief details about what brings you to counseling, and your insurance information.
Why do you need a brief description of my concerns during the intake call?
We ask for a brief overview of why you are seeking services to ensure we match you with the therapist best suited to your unique needs, goals, and life stage. Every therapist on our team has unique areas of specialization.
What forms do I need to fill out before my first session?
Prior to your first visit, you will need to complete our standard client intake paperwork. These forms ensure we have necessary medical, administrative, and consent guidelines established. You can access and review these documents directly on our website’s Forms page.
What should I expect during my very first counseling session?
Your first session is primarily collaborative and informational. In addition to reviewing your administrative paperwork, your counselor will walk through a detailed questionnaire with you to understand your history and current situation. From there, you can begin discussing a personalized treatment plan outlining what you want to achieve through counseling.
What is a "treatment plan"?
A treatment plan is a collaborative roadmap that you and your therapist build together. It simply outlines the specific, meaningful goals you wish to achieve during your time in counseling. It is flexible and can be adjusted as your needs or life circumstances evolve.
How long does a typical counseling session last?
Standard therapy sessions typically last around 45 to 55 minutes, although the initial intake assessment or specific psychological evaluation sessions may require additional time.
How long will I need to be in counseling?
Since our approach is highly personalized, the length of your counseling journey depends entirely on your unique experiences, the complexity of your goals, and your progress. Some clients find resolution in a few months, whereas others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will continually communicate with you regarding your progress.
What age groups do you provide counseling for?
We offer counseling for individuals across all life stages. Our licensed therapists are experienced in working with children, teens, and adults.
What types of specialized counseling services do you offer?
We offer comprehensive therapy modalities tailored to a wide range of needs, including individual therapy, couples therapy, marriage counseling, and family therapy.
Do you provide psychological testing or evaluations?
Yes. Beyond counseling, we can offer formalized assessments and psychological evaluations. This includes specialized services such as parental assessments and court-ordered assessments. Your therapist will help determine if testing is right for you.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept payments from a wide range of private insurance providers, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), and North Carolina Medicaid.
Will my information be kept confidential?
Absolutely. Your privacy and dignity are paramount to us. All personal, medical, and insurance information collected during the intake process and within your therapy sessions is kept strictly confidential, adhering carefully to state law and HIPAA privacy regulations.
